We practice Eco-Tourism, which consist of respecting the natural environment around us while supporting and bolstering the local economy. We embody this philosophy through the choice of staff, materials and the day-to day practices of Chemuyil Club y Villas. Consequently we urge you during your stay to explore the region through local businesses.
We organize multiple activities such as trekking in the forest, cenote exploration, biodiversity discovery, cooking classes, local dining experience and temascal practice.
Muuch-Xiimbal is our partner non-profit organization located 3km from our Chemuyil Club. This community of Mayan people is based on community sharing, personal growth and landcare.
This was an informal project led by Gabriel Mason with the purpose of giving a voice to the local impoverished mayan community to fight the lack of financial sustainability and negative effects of classic tourism in the region. Their first accomplishment was building a bilingual Mayan Spanish School.
“Muuch-Xiimbal” means “Let’s March Together” in Mayan. Four cycles complete our philosophy: to dream, plan, implement, and above all, celebrate.
In 2010, Paledora MuuchXiimbal became an official Non Profit Organization.
La Area Cientifica is the hallmark of the Muuch-Xiimbal Project.
La Area Cientifica connects the natural world, the mayan community and visitors through knowledge and practice. Faced with the reality offered by the system (individuality, consumption and deterioration of nature), the Area Cientifica is an initiatives seeking to restore the positive presence of a human being on the planet.
Our mission is to serve as an example of a self-sufficient life and generate a learning exchange between visitors, the community and the natural environment.
Goals
- Use natural resources in a sustainable way
- Adapt to climate change through alternative eco-techniques
